Why it was banned
Ettie Rout's 1922 guide to sexual health and contraception within marriage, banned in New Zealand under the Indecent Publications Act 1963. Rout was a New Zealand social reformer who had campaigned for soldiers' sexual health during the First World War; her frank writing was suppressed at home despite her international reputation.
